He was born on 15th August 1964 in Bangalore, Karnataka. His Father J.C.Ramaswamy alias Shakthi Prasad was a popular actor who has acted in more than 200 films. His mother Lakshmi Devi was a housewife. His brother Kishor Sarja is a director. He has a sister Chickadevajammani. He got married to Nivedita , who is a former actress. They have two daughters Aishwarya and Anjana. His father-in-law Rajesh is also a popular Kannada actor. His dreams of becoming a police officer failed and destiny made this charming young man to enter film Industry. He entered film Industry as a child artiste in Kannada films. As a Hero he made his debut in SingaKutty 1, 2, 3 which was a multilingual film (Tamil, Telugu and Kannada). His first straight Tamil film was Nanri. Though the film faired reasonably well in the box office, it was the film Sankar Guru with actress Seetha turned a new leaf in his sinking career. He continued with average films like Kalyana Kacheri, Thai Poosam, Padicha Pulla, Thangaikku Oru Thalattu, Manaivi Oru Maanikkam, etc. His first major break came in the Tamil film Gentleman through director Shankar. He portrayed the role of a poor ambitious student who along with his friend dreams about becoming a doctor and finally ends up in stealing money to construct an educational institution free of cost for the poor and needy. His fiery actions and flamboyant dialogues in the film fetched him many accolades. His notable film was Kuruthi Punal with actor Kamal Haasan. He played the role of an honest police officer named Abbas, who finally meets death in a secret operation called operation Dhanush. His excellent fighting prowess fetched him the title Action King Arjun. He continued his success story in the film Mudhalavan where he played the role of an ambitious TV Cameraman who when during an interview with the Chief Minister accepts his challenge to be the C.M of the state for a single day. The film show projected him different from his stereotype action roles. His first restrained performance of a widower who recuperates from the agony of losing his wife and finds love in the eyes of Meena a bank manager with a son in Rhythm, won him many appreciation. He made notable performances in films like Sevagan, Prathap, Karna, Jai Hind, Sadhu, Sengottai, Ezhumalai, Ottran, Giri, Vaathiyar, Durai, etc. Apart from acting, he is a writer, director and producer. All his movies are proverbial sugar coated pills. He owns a production company named Sree Ram Movies.
