He is the second son of Subramanian -.Mohini couple. He has two brothers Anil Kumar and Anup Kumar. His schooling got dropped out when he was in 10th standard in Asan Memorial Seniar Secondary School. After this he under went training as an automobile Engineer in Enfield, India. Later he tried his hands in Textile Business. As he hadn\'t gathered sufficient, prior experience, he happened to meet with heavy loss and finally decided a career in modeling. His clean - cut features won him many modeling assignments. He spent his spare time in bike racing, his most adorable passion. This charm, youthful youngster drew the attention of producer Poorna Chandra Rao. He made him the hero of his Telugu film Prema Pusthagam in 1992. The film was an average grosser. His smart looks fetched him the Tamil film Amaravathi through director Selva in 1993. His second film Pavithra was delayed as he was not able to act for 17 months due to a severe spinal injury from a bike race. A highly self determined person, he always managed to swim against the tide because of his persistence, determination and self confidence. A highly religious person, he walked hundreds of miles all the way from his home in Chennai to the Balaji Shrine in Thirupathi, to fulfill his vow to visit the temple during his spinal surgery. Soon he was on his heels and came back with a romantic performance in the film Aasai, one of the mega hit films of the year 1995. He played dual roles, one as a deaf-and-dumb twin who lusts after his naive brother\'s wife in the block buster film Vaali.
